Every child who has climbed a tree knows this truth – that everything changes from up there. Roger sees this in a full way, saying that “Everything changes when you get in that canopy. It’s a whole different ecosystem. You can read the body language of the tree differently when you can get inside the ecosystem.”
With access to all parts of a tree through rope access, Roger has the ability to inspect differently and also use proper pruning techniques. Tree malpractice most often happens because it’s difficult to prune the tips, but most pruning should happen on the periphery. It’s too hard to reach these parts from buckets and with pull saws. Trusting a certified climber with rope access is important in avoiding wounding a tree through incorrect techniques.
By also offering proper assessment, if the decision does need to be made to remove a large portion or all of a tree, Roger brings experience and value to this process. He finds the mechanics, math, and physics of the process astounding and exciting. He is committed to doing the process well and is satisfied by the feeling of taking a thousand pound piece of wood out of someone’s backyard without damage to the property and home.
